Joel Klaiman

Joel Klaiman is an American music industry executive. The executive vice president and general manager of Columbia Records, Klaiman served previously in senior positions at Epic Records and Universal Republic Records.〔
==Career==
Klaiman began his career in 1990 at Frank DiLeo Management. He was later named senior director of national alternative promotion for Elektra Entertainment Group and in 1998 became vice president of promotion for Sony 550 Music. In 1999, he joined Epic Records as senior vice president of promotion, and was named executive vice president of promotion for the company in 2004. Klaiman was fired from Epic in 2005 after he was implicated Eliot Spitzer's pay-for-play investigation. Widely regarded as a scapegoat, it was reported that he had "taken the fall" for the company.
Shortly after his departure from Epic, Klaiman was appointed senior vice president of promotion and artist development for Republic Records. There he worked with breakthrough artists including Amy Winehouse, Florence & the Machine, Gotye, Nicki Minaj, the Band Perry, and Psy. Through a partnership with Big Machine Records, Klaiman also oversaw the promotion efforts which led to Taylor Swift's crossover success.〔
Klaiman was named executive vice president and general manager of Columbia Records in December 2012. In 2014, he shepherded the campaigns which resulted in the two top selling singles of the year: John Legend's "All of Me" and Pharrell's "Happy".〔 He was credited for the design of the "intricately calibrated long-term" plan for Hozier's multi-platinum debut album.
